A Jenks business owner said they're receiving threats and hateful messages on social media, in a case of mistaken identity.
It started with a TikTok video showing a man telling an Hispanic couple to "go back to their country." The name of his business is nearly the same as the Jenks couple's business.
The Jenks business is being attacked, even though they had nothing to do with the video.
The business owners in Jenks said their business is in no way connected to that viral TikTok - and they just want people to do their research.
Meg Pense said her company, 180 Kitchen and Bath Design Group, has been in Jenks for more than a decade and she and her husband have built a loyal following.
"We pride ourselves on our finished product," Pense said.
The reviews on their page were 5 stars, until the TikTok video.
It has a million-plus views and shows a man telling a Hispanic couple to go back to their country.
Comments on the video identified the man as a contractor in Green Country with a business name similar to 180 Kitchen and Bath Design Group.
But viewers found the Jenks business online instead and began attacking it.
"It was scary as a business," she said. "You have to have an online presence. You pride yourself on those good reviews."
Pense said she got hundreds of messages, phone calls, one-star reviews, and even death threats, from people all over the country.
"We've been slandered for something that has nothing to do with us," said Pense.
Pense said Google is finally removing the bad reviews, but she fears the damage is done.
She wants people to think twice before posting online and do your research before attacking an innocent business.
"This is a been a successful business and we'll continue to be successful," said Pense.
The owner said she is thankful for her loyal customers and will continue doing damage control.
