News On 6 is saying thank you to the Healthcare workers across Oklahoma who are putting in long hours during the pandemic.
Healthcare workers said it's not about the sandwich and dessert, rather it's the smile beaming from behind the mask.
A simple 'thank you' gives them the motivation to keep moving forward.
They have been serving selflessly on the frontlines.
“Every day’s a real busy day," said Natalie Dooley.
“We’re just here to serve. We’re here to serve our community,” said Alyssa Phillips.
“We’re just here at the bedside and love what we do,” said Rachel Masters.
To say thank you for their hard work, we treated them to Chick-fil-A and Merritt's cookies.
“The small things mean the most to us,” said Dooley.
Our Griffin Communications family started organizing healthcare appreciation events as a small way to say a big thank you.
The staff at Saint Francis in Tulsa are the third team to thank this week.
Our first stop was at Cleveland Area Hospital, and last night, we went to Saint Francis in Muskogee.
“We get these things like this that push us forward and give us the strength to do the things that we need to do,” said Dooley.
They said working through the pandemic isn't easy.
“I have not seen the likes of something like this before, but I can tell you I think it’s helped our community grow and it’s helped our hospital grow. And I think it’s definitely strengthened our hospital as a whole," said Dooley.
“It’s hard in the children’s hospital for parents and children’s families to understand some of the visitation restrictions and it’s hard for us too. We want grandparents and aunts and uncles to get to be here," said Masters.
However, the people make it worth it.
“It’s really all of our call of duty to do it and it’s who we are and it’s what we do, and we try to do our best,” said Dooley.
“We are getting great community support, but we want to make sure that we’re supporting you guys as well. Like yes, we are here and it’s hard, but y’all are going through it too,” said Masters.
