A Tulsa man is dead after officers said he shot five Phoenix, Arizona police officers and injured four more, on February 11.
Police said after Morris Jones fired dozens of shots, they later found him and the mother of his one month old baby, dead inside a Phoenix home.
Jones is from Tulsa and was a member of the Hoover Crips street gang.
Records show he spent time in prison in Oklahoma in 2004.
He was in federal prison several times for gun crimes in Oklahoma, until he was released in 2019.
In Phoenix during the morning of February 11, police were called for a domestic situation.
Officers said when they arrived at the scene, Jones invited the officer inside, then immediately started shooting the officer.
That led to a five hour standoff, until another man brought Jones' one month old child outside the house.
That man surrendered to police.
When police went to rescue the baby, they said Jones ambushed them again and shot more officers.
Officers found Jones and his former girlfriend both dead in the home.
However, they aren't sure if Jones was shot by police or took his own life.
Records show Jones was sent to prison in Oklahoma in 2004 for stealing a car.
He was sent to federal prison in Oklahoma for seven years, after federal investigators found several guns in his apartment. Jones led police on a chase when they tried to arrest him.
Jones broke the rules of his probation when he got out of prison and was sent back to prison twice, until 2019.
All nine Phoenix officers who were injured are expected to survive.
