Tulsa's largest reservoir, Lake Yahola, looks empty. However, Tulsa has plenty of water and it's soon going to be refilled.
The City of Tulsa said a planned maintenance period scheduled during winter won't be completed because of supply chain issues.
The reservoir will be drained again next winter to complete the job.
The almost-empty lake has attracted some attention from people driving on Highway 75.
While it's routine maintenance, sometimes many years will pass between times when it's drained for repairs. The intention was to rebuild sections of the sloped walls around the lake and repair some of the drainage lines.
When it's full, Lake Yahola holds two billion gallons of raw water.
It's piped in from Lake Spavinaw and held for treatment at the Mohawk Water Treatment plant.
Tulsa has another reservoir in east Tulsa that holds 1.2 billion gallons of water. A city spokesperson said Yahola would be refilled in early March.
