Classic cars are on display this weekend at Tulsa Expo Square for the Starbird National Rod and Custom Car Show.
It's been a Tulsa tradition for 58 years and part of the family for even longer. More than one thousand cars and over 100 vendors fill the room, all part of the largest indoor classic car show in the country.
The Darryl Starbird Rod and Custom Car Show has been around for decades. In the center of the room, a circle of cars make up the “Legends Tribute” honoring Donna Starbird, the matriarch of the Starbird family who passed away late last year.
Brice Bledsoe is Starbird's grandson. He says the one in the middle, the DonnaBird, is the car Darryl built for Donna for their 50th anniversary. Classic cars are brought in from around the country and even some from overseas. Family-friendly activities happening this weekend include an action arena, a demolition derby Saturday night, and performances by flame throwers.
Several celebrities will be there including from the Netflix Show, “Rust to Riches.”
"For me personally, I've been around car shows since I was born. I was born in December, and I was at a car show in January. So, it's in all our blood to a certain degree. We're very much a family-run operation,” Bledsoe said. "It's always been a special place in our heart. It very much is one of the most unique indoor shows in the country."
The show is going on until 11 p.m. Friday and all-day Saturday and Sunday.
