A big event being held in Tulsa will highlight cultural dancers and musicians. It also gives people in the area a chance to support local business.
A parking lot near 21st and Garnett will transform into a pop-up market. It’s just the first event for a new organization helping boost that area.
The square at Nam Hai market will feature activities like live dancing and music, vendors, food trucks and so much more. It’s all aimed at promoting diversity here in Tulsa.
It’s being held by the Tulsa Global District, an organization formed in 2020 with the Oklahoma Urban Main Street Program.
Its goal is to make the area around 21st and Garnett a safe and welcoming place, with a lot of new economic opportunity. It’s also a very culturally diverse part of town.
Executive Director Luisa Krug hopes this is the first of many pop-up events in the area.
“It’s been exciting to see a lot of interest on social media and especially being able to find different performers that maybe aren’t typically performers around Tulsa and highlight them here," Krug said.
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5 and goes all day until 9 p.m. if you want to bring your family out to enjoy.
