Another round of winter weather is making its way into Green Country on Friday morning.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
The winter weather advisory remains for most of the region through the day with total snowfall accumulation between one to three inches across the advisory areas with locally higher amounts across extreme eastern sections. Precipitation type is mostly snow, but a small window for freezing drizzle and sleet (wintry mix) will briefly occur as the system moves southeast through the morning. North winds from 15 to 25 mph combined with temperatures in the mid-20s will yield wind chill values in the teens or single digits. The main window for snow across northern OK remains from now through 10 a.m., with areas across southeastern OK from midday to early afternoon. Daytime highs are expected in the lower to mid-30s. Clouds will clear from the northwest to southeast later in the day on Friday. Saturday morning lows are expected from the mid-teens to lower 20s with afternoon highs rebounding into the mid-40s with north winds shifting from the south through the day with speeds of 10 to 15 mph. Mostly sunny conditions are expected Saturday.
The upper air pattern will remain quite progressive, as has been the case since last fall. The next upper-level system moves across the southern plains Monday. As this system nears the state, strong south winds return Sunday from 15 to 30 mph and highs reaching the mid to upper 60s. Despite the snowfall, fire spread rates will increase Sunday with low afternoon humidity and strong winds.
Monday a surface area of low pressure develops along the Red River and moves eastward by evening providing the chance for a few showers and storms near and southeast of the metro Monday night. Adequate wind shear may provide a few strong to severe storms across southeastern OK where low level moisture may pool. As this system exits, the return of gradually warming weather will be likely until Thursday night when another front crosses the area. Some locations will see highs in the mid to upper 70s Wednesday, nearing the lower 80s across western Oklahoma.
Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great and safe day!
