Glacier Chocolate is kicking off the first week of spring with creativity and a sweet treat.
To welcome the new season, chefs are teaching people how to make a bird's nest that you can eat. Glacier Chocolate is serving up edible art that looks like a picture of spring in the form of chocolate. The dessert is both a craft and snack for your kids to enjoy creating or to channel your inner kid at heart.
First, you cover chow mein noodles in melted chocolate and form it into the shape of a nest. Next, throw on some sprinkles for a colorful decoration. Then, you refrigerate the nest to solidify the chocolate. Finally, you paint a chocolate bird to sit in the middle, and bon appétit!
Glacier Chocolate Director of Operations and Chef Gene Leiterman says you can make it at home.
"It's really fun and interactive. It's completely edible and it really shows what we can do with chocolate,” Leiterman said.
He says it's Glacier's job to show you the idea, then you can add your own unique spin.
He's hosting a class in April geared towards kids ages 5 to 12 and kids at heart. Leiterman says he likes to develop treats for the classes that are fun for him too.
"I think springtime is meant to kind of get outdoors and we really want to bring that alive with these little birds. Everybody loves chocolate. And so, it's a fun time to do something at home with your family,” Leiterman said.
The class is happening in two weeks at Glacier Chocolate + Coffee in South Tulsa.
