With the change of seasons, people are gearing up for spring cleaning or projects.
For many, the biggest challenge is going through the clutter and deciding what to do with it. Junk removal experts say it's best to start small and if you're going through your items, there are three ways to get rid of them: donate, recycle, or throw it away.
Spring cleaning can be a daunting task. That's why Junk King President TJ Murray says a pro tip is to start with something easy. For example, if your focus is the backyard, start with the patio. He says if it’s the garage, start with a corner and if your goal is the entire house, start with a closet or drawer. The next step is deciding what to do with the items after you declutter.
If it's something you can donate, Murray says consider taking stuff to local charities like Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, or the Salvation Army. He says with spring sports leagues starting, consider little leagues for things like outgrown baseball bats or cleats.
While keeping your house clean, he says you can also keep the environment clean by recycling.
"The weather starts getting nice and they start picking up and it’s a very freeing experience. Once somebody starts, it feels like it’s a weight off their shoulders. It really helps them be able to clean. Maybe that garage that you haven't looked at all winter and now you're wanting to clean it up a little bit and make it useful. Make it something that you guys can enjoy,” Murray said.
