"She grew up here. This is where she grew up at and this is where she loved to be with her family and with the community," said Sherrie West.

Loved ones say RayAnna Moya wouldn't want her family to be sad but it's going to take a while before they reach that point.

"This is a celebration of love and peace," said West.

There's a profound sense of sadness this Easter Sunday as loved ones remember RayAnna Moya.

"It's a terrible situation that we have to go through this right now. You know, I'm standing here in the gap for my family, her mother, her siblings, and her children," said West.

Her friends and family released purple and white balloons into the air, colors that represent victims of domestic violence.

Moya's loved ones say she was soft, sweet, and had the biggest heart.

"She was a very beautiful soul. She was always smiling. She was nice," said Robert Edwards, Stepdad.

"She was just a loving supportive person of anyone she knew she could help," said West. "She raised her children to the utmost respect. She made sure they were fed. She did everything a young mother would do without a father."

The family said Moya was a loving mother of a young boy and girl.

"Your momma gonna take care of your children the best she can. Like she did you," said West.

Officers said Moya's boyfriend Jujuan Ballard killed Moya Wednesday afternoon during a 4-hour standoff near 4th and Sheridan.

"That's the part we have to get over is the way she left here," said Edwards.

Investigators said Ballard shot Moya's brother several times while he was trying to check on his sister at her house.

"This is the result of love gone wrong," said West.

Moya's son told firefighters his mom was bleeding in the bathroom and Ballard pulled a gun on them when they tried to go inside. Firefighters grabbed the child and ran.

Police said Ballard shot at first responders through his windows several times during the standoff and an officer was hit in the hand by a ricocheting bullet.

Police said a law enforcement officer shot Ballard once in the shoulder.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

"For both parties, both families it's a tragedy," said Edwards.

"RayAnna, you did your best. You did all that your momma instilled into you. The love. The wisdom. You did everything. You didn't do nothing wrong," said West.

Moya was 27 years old, in school and wanted to go into the medical field before she was murdered.

"We gonna miss everything. The smile. The love. Everything. Nothing we ain't gonna miss about her," said West.
