Every registered voter in Tulsa County will receive a new registration card in the mail in the coming weeks. Some voters are changing voting locations while others will just see a change in precinct numbering.
The Tulsa County election board is in the process of mailing about 370,000 new cards to each registered voter. About a third of the voters in the county are changing polling locations.
The drawing of new boundaries for redistricting is the reason for some polling location changes. This process is done after the census every 10 years.
The new cards are being mailed out in bunches over the next couple of weeks since it is such a big task. Voters are asked to keep an eye out when checking the mail for the new information.
“One of the most important things you can do is familiarize yourself with what that card is going to look like and don’t toss it,” said Gwen Freeman, secretary of the Tulsa County election board. “When you do receive your card, dispose of your old one and use your new one.”
The first election following the new boundaries will be the upcoming June 28th primary.
