Families in Uvalde, Texas are waking up with empty beds where their children used to sleep.

This school shooting happened just two days before kids from Robb Elementary were set to start their summer break.

It all happened at an elementary school just 80 miles west of San Antonio.

Hearses arrived Tuesday evening to take bodies away after 19 children's lives were taken.

A father waited hours to find out his 10-year-old daughter Annabelle was one of the victims.

Police say the 18-year-old shooter drove up to the school with a handgun, an AR-15 styled gun and high-capacity magazines.

The gunman eventually was shot and killed by a responding officer.

"As soon as he made entry into the school, he started shooting. Children, teachers, whoever was in his way. He was shooting everybody," said Lt. Chris Olivarez with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A 4th grade teacher was also shot and killed during the horror that unfolded Tuesday.

Before the shooter went inside this school, they shot their grandmother.

It is still unclear what the motive was. The shooter alluded to a potential attack on social media.

This is the second mass shooting in less than two weeks after a different 18-year-old gunman killed 10 Black Americans in Buffalo.
