Wednesday is day three of Oklahoma's special sessions and lawmakers are considering cutting taxes to help families with inflation.

In a talk with News 9 political analyst Scott Mitchell, Republican State Sen. Roger Thompson said his focus this special session is tax reform.

More specifically, what taxes can they get rid of or replace.

Gov. Kevin Stitt wants lawmakers to look into changes for state personal income tax and grocery tax, to name a few.

This comes after he vetoed $75 per taxpayer with the goal of relieving inflation.

So far on the House’s side, more than a dozen bills have already been proposed with the goal of fighting inflation.

Sen. Thompson said during this special session, at least for the Senate, that they don't want a bill that goes through both houses and hasn't gone first through a committee process.

"We are more interested in, not just throwing something against the wall and seeing what sticks, but what's really good for the state of Oklahoma in the long run," said Sen. Thompson.
