Work is underway to improve a program designed to help Tulsa students dealing with trauma and poverty.
Youth at Work is expanding into McClure Elementary.
It provides enrichment programming during the school year and summer break.
"If we see a need we want to fill it. We know there are so many young poeple in TPS that could benefit our programming. So many parents in TPS that could benefit from our programming by simply having a safe place for their children to go after school," Sara Framel, Youth at Heart said.
Organizers say students in the program typically score 20 to 25 percent higher on literacy tests in comparison to those not enrolled in the program.
