Volunteers from the Tulsa Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Committee are taking a close look at roads in Tulsa to see what needs to be done to make them safer.

The group travels around looking at roadways and as they discover safety concerns, they can call 3-1-1 if something needs to be fixed. They can also submit requests to the city to be changed.

"The biggest thing is you have to be cautious no matter what. I mean if there are signs out there or not. There are, you know, people that don't pay attention all the time. And so, you need to be able to look outside the box when you are doing things and, you know, protect yourself as well," said Tulsa Police Lt. Kyle Murray with

The committee's chairman says there is about $ 72 million of work that needs to be done. The city allocates less than $1 million a year for sidewalk repair.
