A new spot is giving furry friends a vacation of their own while you’re at work or when you leave town.
Dogtopia of South Tulsa just opened for business. It’s a franchise that's been around for two decades.
There's a location in Edmond, but this is the first one in Tulsa.
The focus is on daycare, so owners can drop off their dogs in the mornings and pick them up at the end of the day. They also offer boarding and spa services.
Dogtopia Owner Daryl Bray said the rubberized floors support paw and joint health for the dogs.
Plus, each room has a UV-filtered HVAC unit to help control germs and odor.
A webcam runs all day and dog owners can log on from an app to check on their pup.
Canine coaches are always in the room when dogs are playing, except for nap time, when they're in the crate.
There are three playrooms for small, medium, and large dogs that can host 15 to 30 at a time. Dogs are separated by size and playstyle for safety and to make them feel at home.
"So, people can bring their dogs in to spend the day with us, socializing, learning good canine behavior, how to read other dogs body language so that they're better-behaved canine citizens in the world,” Bray said.
The franchise also supports programs through the Dogtopia Foundation supporting three causes. That includes raising money for service dogs for military veterans, programs for youth literacy where kids can read to dogs, and employment initiatives for adults with autism.
