Grass Fire Ignites Stack Of Tires At Tulsa Auto Shop

Firefighters said a grass fire spread to a pile of tires behind a salvage yard in Tulsa Monday afternoon.

The fire happened behind Auto Recyclers and Salvage near Pine and Peoria.

Firefighters said there were three small grass fires and one caught the tires on fire, sending black smoke into the air.

"It is a bad area for the homeless traveling through there, I've seen trains set fires along the way, but at this time we don't know what caused it," said Spencer Yeager, District Chief.

Firefighters said the auto shop's fence was damaged.
