Hot temperatures stick around on Wednesday before cooler weather arrives this weekend.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
Slightly above normal temperatures will remain across northern Oklahoma for the next few days. By this weekend, a storm system moving across the northern plains will bring a cold front across northern Oklahoma late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. This feature should bring slightly below normal temperatures Sunday and Monday before warmer weather returns across the state by the middle of next week. Temps will start this morning in the 60s and move back into the upper 80s and lower 90s with northeast winds near 10 to 15 mph. Slightly drier air will filter into far northeastern Oklahoma later Wednesday and Thursday as the weak upper-level system near the Ark-La-Tex continues to slowly move away from the region. The mention of isolated showers or storms on Wednesday should remain across extreme southeastern Oklahoma and northeast Texas.
By the weekend, a strong upper-level trough will move from Southern Canada into the northern plains while a surface cold front begins quickly moving southeast. This boundary may enter northwestern Oklahoma Saturday evening bringing a few scattered showers and storms across northern Oklahoma, but the probability for measurable precipitation will remain low for the metro. Most data keep most of northeastern Oklahoma dry, but we’ll have some low pops with the system.
Temperatures should drop as the boundary crosses the area with Sunday morning temps into the mid-60s. Afternoon highs may stay in the upper 70s and lower 80s with northeast winds around 10 to 20 mph. A slug of drier surface boundary area arrives Sunday evening with Monday morning temps in the upper 50s before reaching back into the 80s Monday afternoon. Most data support another robust warm-up later next week with afternoon highs in the 90s.
Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
