The Bluegrass and Chili Festival is happening this weekend in downtown Wagoner.
Friday and Saturday will be filled with chili, live music, and activities. Dozens of chili cooks will line the streets of downtown Wagoner on Saturday and people will taste and vote on their favorite recipe. This is the 42nd year of the Bluegrass and Chili Festival and the 4th year it's been held in Wagoner.
Jimmy Cagle is the Wagoner Deputy Fire Chief and he's an award-winning chili cook. His chili won last year's People's Choice Competition and placed first in the Red Chili Competition. Cagle's headed to South Carolina in a couple of weeks to compete in the World Championship Chili Cook-Off.
"It's fun. They've got three entertainment stages. We'll have live music on all three stages starting at 6 p.m.,” Cagle said. "They've got things for the kids, crafts, we've got food vendors. We've got all kinds of good stuff, so good family entertainment."
Tastings are on Saturday afternoon and the winners will be announced in the evening. The event is full of family-friendly activities like crafts, an antique tractor show, and a car show. All the action happens to the backdrop of live Bluegrass music.
The festivities go until 11 p.m. Friday and open at 11 a.m. Saturday. You can find the schedule of events HERE
