Tulsa Police say a woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after a rollover crash near North Sheridan Road and East Apache Street on Tuesday evening.
According to police, officers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash near the Tulsa International Airport at around 10 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an SUV that had crashed and rolled through a fence onto airport property.
Police say a 53-year-old woman was found dead on the scene and a 41-year-old man was found injured. After investigating, officers determined that the deceased woman was the driver of the vehicle.
Officers say preliminary calculations showed that the vehicle was likely traveling eastbound along East Apache Street at a minimum of 66 MPH in a posted 40 MPH zone. Police say it is believed that the driver missed a turn just east of Sheridan due to their speed, before hitting a curb and rolling the vehicle several times.
According to police, the woman was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Tulsa Police say that the driver was possibly impaired based on several beer cans that were found in and around the vehicle and a past history of DUI.
Police have not yet released the identity of anyone involved in the crash.
