The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) says its new system for student transfers is a big success.
According to the OSDE, since the online transfer portal became available in January, the state has processed nearly 11,000 student transfer requests, compared to about 1,200 in 2021 and 391 in 2020.
“Families enjoy choices now more than ever before when it comes to public education in Oklahoma,” said Joy Hofmeister, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. “We are excited to offer a user-friendly online option for student transfers and pleased to see so many families are utilizing the new platform to choose the optimal learning environment for their kids.”
The portal lets students request a transfer at any point during the school year, with a limit of two out-of-district transfers a year.
Parents interested in a transfer are advised to contact their local school district for specific instructions.
