There is a lot to see at the Tulsa State Fair including a free petting zoo.
Around 70 animals roam around the pen at the Super Duty Arena, where anyone can walk around and pet them, including a couple of lambs born just three days ago.
"Whether you grew up on a farm or grew up in the city, we find that everyone just really enjoys this. It's pretty magical,” said Sarah Roitsch, manager at the Great American Petting Farm.
Calling all animal lovers! At the Great American Petting Farm, you're sure to make some furry friends. Roitsch says each animal is raised together on a farm. Each one has a name, like these llamas, Sweet Pea and Princess.
"We have the time of our lives over here. We have a huge variety of goats and sheep, even wallabies, European fallow deer, miniature donkeys, a miniature cow, and a miniature pig. The kids love it, the parents love it,” Roitsch said.
It's free to visit and you can buy food to feed the animals. Crews spend lots of time cleaning the pen to keep it in the best shape.
"It's very educational to be able to tell everyone all about the different types of animals and to really see that up close and personal. A lot of people don't get that experience anymore. We feel very privileged to be able to do that, to be able to provide that experience,” Roitsch said.
It’s an activity for the whole family to learn, relax, and have fun.
