Some Bixby principals and teachers had some paying up to do after students raised $66,000 for a school fundraiser.

Principals Libby McNamara and Angela Timmons helped up the ante for Bixby West’s PTO fundraiser this year, promising to spend a night on top of the roof of the school.

The original goal was to raise $45 thousand, but that number was quickly surpassed.

“When it started creeping closer and closer, Libby and I were like, 'well we better start getting our bundling ready,'” joked Timmons. “We started looking for tents.”

Students dropped by to see the administrators while they were on the roof.

The principals said they used a space heater and handwarmers to help shield the freezing temperatures.

On Wednesday, other teachers were drenched with ice cream toppings and water balloons as part of the big fundraiser.

The PTO said the money raised will be put back into the classrooms to help teachers with their students.
