World Champion gymnast Maggie Nichols was in Tulsa Thursday night.

She was the special guest at a fundraiser for the Aim High Academy, a non-profit gymnastics program. Maggie Nichols is a well-known athlete who's not only known for being a world champion and an 8-time NCAA National Champion.

She's also known for speaking out about sexual abuse in USA Gymnastics.

"It's really important to keep educating people and spreading awareness about sexual abuse," said Nichols.

She shared that story at Aim High Academy's Gold Medal Night. Aim High is a non-profit where kids from low-income families participate in gymnastics

"We want to provide gymnastics, dance, and ninja classes for any kid in the Tulsa community that wants to participate. And we currently have nearly 200 kids in our program that receive some type of scholarship award," said Jennifer Bjornberg, Aim High Academy.

Bjornberg said they asked Maggie to speak because she uses her voice to help others.

"I just want to be an inspiration for the next generation of girls and gymnastics. And you know, also share my faith and how that was a huge part of my success," said Nichols.

Maggie spoke about overcoming adversity, perseverance, and how your outlook on life is everything.

"Just staying positive no matter what you're going through. Nothing in life is going to be easy. But, if you set high goals for yourself, you can achieve anything that you put your mind to," said Nichols.
