PSO Joins National Effort To Fight Utility Scams

The Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) is a national effort called "Utilities United Against Scams" to fight utility scams and raise awareness of the common signs of a scam.

PSO says it's joining a national effort to fight utility scams.

"Utilities United Against Scams" has declared Wednesday as "Scams Awareness Day."

The organization is a group of 150 U.S. and Canadian utility companies.

It says to be aware of common signs of a scam like demands for immediate payment, threats to disconnect immediately and requests for specific forms of payment like a pre-paid card.

PSO says to report any suspicious calls to the company.

It says 275 scams have been reported this year, which is about the same as last year, but well below the year before.
