Crime Stoppers Tip Reveals Wanted NE OKC Murder Suspect's Location

A wanted murder suspect's run from the law ended on Monday thanks to help from a Crime Stoppers tip, according to Oklahoma City police officials. Investigators and the U.S. Marshals Service tracked down 42-year-old Mark Stewart in northwest Oklahoma City.  

The victim, Lhazmon McClain, 36, posted a video on Facebook two months prior to his death. 

In one of McClain’s final social media posts he said, “Any moment God can just bless me with the means to do anything, you know?”

Police were called on January 20th to investigate a disturbance at a home near northeast 32nd and Lincoln Boulevard. Officers found McClain’s body in the home’s living room. 

“We found the subject shot several times and was pronounced dead here at the scene,” said Lt. Jeff Cooper, Oklahoma City Police Department. 

The officer described what the witness heard in the early morning hours.   

“According to a witness a couple people were arguing inside a home,” said Cooper. “One male picked up a gun, shot the other male and fled on foot.”

Stewart allegedly went to the witness’s bedroom and then shot her dog, took her car keys, and fled the scene. 

According to a search warrant, the following day the SUV was pulled over in Midwest City, but the witness was driving. She told investigators Stewart returned her SUV at gunpoint and left some of his personal belongings inside. Police took the vehicle to search for evidence connected to the deadly shooting. 

Investigators have not released the motive behind the shooting but had enough evidence to file a murder warrant for Stewart. He was arrested at a home on the northwest side of the city. 

Stewart was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a first-degree murder complaint. A judge denied Stewart bond.
