Russia invaded Ukraine one year ago and a local church is supporting Ukrainians by collecting items they need.
David Oxenham and other members from Tulsa Christ Presbyterian are still supporting the victims of the war.
"The need is so great over there,” Oxenham said.
Oxenham and the congregation supported Crates for Ukraine last year by donating more than twenty thousand dollars worth of medication, vitamins, and medical kits. Now, they're sending even more supplies.
"We collected tourniquets and other wound care items,” Oxenham said. "Lots of socks, particularly for kids"
Diane Beals helped Oxenham collect these items. Their donation list focused more this time, on winter gear.
"The winter items especially because of the lack of electricity,” Beals said. “The power goes on and off, the Russians have really targeted their power stations with their missiles. So, the power goes off from time to time and the nights get cold when that happens."
Oxenham and Beals appreciate people who continue to support those in need, halfway across the world.
"It softens their hearts as it softens ours,” Oxenham said. “It gives us the opportunity to show them that we care and gives them hope."
The crates will be shipped to Ukraine on March 16th. If you’re interested in learning more about the non-profit, click here.
