Family and friends of an 86-year-old Creek County woman killed in a home invasion earlier this month, want her to be remembered as a caring and kind woman.
Prosecutors charged 23-year-old Daniel Wilson with first-degree murder and burglary for Delores Pridmore's death.
John Tuttle, a family friend of Delores Pridmore, says she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be missed.
"Seeing Delores one week and then just a few days later realizing she's gone in such a tragic, useless way is hard to accept and is hard to get your emotions around," Tuttle said.
Tuttle has known the Pridmore family his entire life. He says Delores was his mother's best friend and helped raise him. Remembering she always had a kind word or encouragement for every one she met.
"Little by little I'm losing a lot of the folks in my life that helped raise me," Tuttle said.
The affidavit says Wilson broke into Delores house through a window on March 10th. It says when Delores found him inside her house she shot him in the chest, then they fought over the gun.
The affidavit says after Wilson knocked Delores down, he shot her in the head then called 911. During that call Wilson referred to himself as crazy and when the dispatcher asked why, he said, "I killed an old woman and I feel so terrible."
The affidavit says Wilson told the dispatcher "I'm sitting down on the couch and I'm dying right now because she shot me in the chest." Officers say when they got to the scene they found Wilson on the side of the house, bleeding, wearing women's clothing. Delores was found dead inside.
Tuttle says she and her husband lived in the house since the 60s and everyone who knew her will miss her smile.
"Those memories, good memories will always be there and that's a little comforting. You never lose those memories," Tuttle said.
Dolores' family will lay her to rest on Tuesday.
