The Outsider’s movie is turning forty on Saturday.
Despite its age, the Outsiders continues to be an important tale that is loved by generations of fans from all over the globe.
Based on the novel with the same name, the movie is about a group of boys and their struggle between right and wrong.
"I think it's pleasantly amazing that people are still interested," Ed Jackson said.
Many famous actors starred in the film that was shot in Tulsa, as well as local residents like Jackson.
"I played the motorcycle cop," Jackson said.
The Outsiders put Tulsa on the map when the movie premiered, and it continues to attract fans from all over the world.
In 2019 the house featured in the film was turned into a museum by Danny Boy O'Connor.
O'Connor loves meeting people of all ages who love the book and movie as much as he does.
"I saw this movie and saw the way I felt being portrayed on the screen, and so it had a long lasting impact on me," O'Connor said.
The movie will get older, but Jackson and O'Connor think the story will never really age.
"I think a lot of people whether they be soc or greaser can identify with it They are seeing the mirror reflection about the way they feel about themselves, Jackson said.
"It's not going to go away any time soon. It's a generational thing, and it's a Tulsa thing. Tulsans and Okies are proud of it," O'Connor said.
The Outsiders Museum is open Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
