A Green Country couple said their daughter's life was taken too soon. She was hit and killed in a crash recently near 21st and Yale.
Chelsea Evans' parents said she was a bright light, and while they do want some answers, what they really want is for the world to know about their daughter.
Antoinette and Buddy Evans said their daughter was someone special, who always had a big smile on her face and showed kindness to everyone.
“She always had that bubbly, outgoing, smiling, compassionate, loving, knew-no-stranger personality," said Antoinette.
Chelsea was very close to her family. She was the middle child and loved her brother and sister.
Her parents said she was a cheerleader in Ochelata where they live, and she loved dancing and expressing herself.
"She was reserved at some sense, but she was always the center of attention as well," Antoinette said. "She was a light."
Chelsea worked at Braum’s for a few years and everyone knew her and loved her. "They showed up to express their sense of loss too," said Buddy.
She had dreams of becoming a nurse; something her mother said would have been perfect for her giving heart.
"Going into nursing, that was her calling," she said. "Helping people, helping to fix people.”
Chelsea died on March 23 in Tulsa. She was in town to line dance with some friends.
It was raining and dark outside when she was hit by a teenage boy. Her parents said this still doesn’t feel real.
“It’s hard getting in a routine, not hearing her voice, not hearing her laughter.”
They’re holding on to one another, their community, and God to move forward.
“I look at us like we were a five-spoked wheel, and we’re missing a spoke," Buddy said.
Officers are still investigating the crash but said the other driver was a minor and not a U.S. citizen.
