A program at a Broken Arrow Public School wants to give students positive male role models they can look up to.

The Hallway Heroes program is already making a difference for students.

Derek Anderson is a hallway hero and he is a first and third grader at the school.

Anderson said before being in this program, he didn't spend a lot of time at their school but now he enjoys helping out and being a part of his children's community.

Anderson said "You do get a real good insight of what your kids are going through and what they're doing and what their teachers are doing for them and it really brings you into this sense of community more than you would have."

There are currently more than 30 men in the program and Anderson hopes this number will continue to grow.
