No. 1 Oklahoma closed non-conference play with a 6-0 midweek win at Tulsa Tuesday evening for their 38th straight victory.
OU's pitching quartet of Jordy Bahl, Nicole May, Kierston Deal and Alex Storako combined on Oklahoma's nation-best 29th shutout of the season, while Alyssa Brito blasted a seventh-inning grand slam to put the game away.
After a pair of scoreless innings, the Sooners (46-1, 15-0 Big 12) plated a pair in the third on two hits and a TU (20-26, 6-9 AAC) error. Following a walk to Tiare Jennings and Cydney Sanders single, OU super senior Grace Lyons reached on the Golden Hurricane error at short, allowing Jennings to race home. The next at-bat, redshirt senior Haley Lee ripped a single up the middle to score Sanders.
Bahl retired the side in consecutive innings in the second and third before giving way to May in the fourth, who left one on base with a strikeout. May fanned another in the fifth before Deal entered and retired the last batter of the frame via pop up.
OU's fourth pitcher of the night, Storako, entered in the sixth and closed the final two innings, allowing no runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
At the top of the seventh, following walks to Jennings, Lyons and sophomore Sophia Nugent, Brito hit her first grand slam as a Sooner and second of her career to bring the final score to 6-0.
Five Sooners registered hits in the contest, paced by Brito's 2-for-3, four RBI showing.
May earned the win in relief to move to 15-0, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings and allowing one hit. Bahl (3.0 IP) and Deal (0.1 IP) both didn't allow a hit with Bahl striking out three.
The Sooners close the regular season this weekend, May 5-7, with the Bedlam Series presented by Phillips 66 in Stillwater vs. No. 7/6 Oklahoma State.
