TULSA, Okla. - A few pop-up storms are possible on Friday before a warm holiday weekend.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

A steady-state forecast remains for the next few days. We’ll include a slight mention for a pop-up thunderstorm or two later on Friday afternoon, but most locations will remain dry. Even fewer pop-up storms will be possible this weekend before the upper air flow becomes more favorable for additional storm chances next week. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid-80s on Friday through the weekend. Morning lows will drop a few degrees this weekend due to slightly drier air filtering across the region from the Missouri Valley. Thunderstorms are underway across the high pains of Texas this morning but will remain mostly away from the state today. Additional storms are likely to develop on Friday and throughout the weekend across the high plains. A few of these will drift eastward Sunday nearing the western sections late Saturday evening into early Sunday morning but mostly remaining west of our immediate area.

The blocking pattern remains nearby in the upper levels and will remain so for the next few days. A mid-level ridge extends into the Midwest with a broad area of low pressure across the southeastern U.S. and another low across the southwestern U.S. region. By Monday, the mid-level ridge moves east, directly atop the southeastern low. As this occurs, it will allow more disturbances from the western trough to near the plains next week. Late May and early June typically supports continued threats for severe weather. But the upper flow will remain relatively weak before attempting to strengthen some later next week, yet no major storm system appears likely to develop.

Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
