Stolen Restored Truck Carries Last Memories Of Sapulpa Man’s Friend

A Sapulpa man said thieves stole the truck he had just restored in honor of his best friend, who recently passed away.

The truck was Steven Dugan’s best friend's truck. When his best friend died, Dugan got the truck and made it almost new. It even had a picture of his friend on the front license plate.

Dugan said the thieves didn’t just take a truck, they took what he has left of his best friend, Keith Norris. Hanging inside the truck is a necklace that contains Norris’ ashes.

Dugan said the truck was stolen around two in the morning Sunday and his surveillance cameras caught video of the truck racing out of his driveway.

"My daughter came out, got in her vehicle, and knew it was rummaged through. And shortly after came around and found out my restored truck was gone,” said Dugan.

Dugan spent eight months restoring the 2000 GMC Sierra pickup truck after his best friend Norris passed away last year.

Norris’ son let Dugan have the truck so Dugan would have something of his friend to hold on to.

"I thought, 'hey I am going to restore this thing, head light to tail light, and make it right.' It took me about eight months to do it. I wanted to do it right by our 30 plus year friendship and to his family. I had a lot of sentimental in there. It was our last project together,” said Dugan.

Inside the truck is an arrowhead necklace containing some of Norris’ ashes and Steven wants that back. There's also a picture of Norris on the visor and a quote from Norris on the tailgate.

Dugan said the truck was spotted Sunday afternoon at the QuikTrip on 33rd West Avenue in Tulsa.

"Just drop it, walk away. Do the right thing. It means a lot to us. I'm sure you've already done damage to it but so be it, we just want the truck back,” said Dugan.
