This week, Magic City Books shared on social media that Hanks wrote and mailed them a typewritten letter praising Tulsa for being "hip" and comparing the city to Paris -- in a way.
"31 May 2023
Jeff...
Since when did Tulsa get so hip as to be the home of y'all - if 'y'all is a thing you say in OK. Having never been to your fair city, I was as comfortable there as say on the West Bsnk in Paris or the groovier streets of, like B'k-lyn or even Oakland California. You have a great crew there, and our time a stage was a grand converstaion that really did end too quickly. I'll blow through Tulsa again, and make time to hang at the Magic City.
Until then, Tom Hanks"
Magic City Books, a project of the nonprofit Tulsa Literary Coalition, brought Hanks to the Tulsa PAC on May 15.
