The power outages across Green Country have lasted over 48 hours, meaning any food that was left in an unpowered refrigerator is no longer safe for consumption, according to CDC guidelines.

SNAP benefit recipients are eligible to apply for a reimbursement on any food that was destroyed as a result of the weekend storm and the subsequent days-long power outage, according to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

OKDHS says those seeking a reimbursement have 10 days to apply and must provide proof that the food was purchased using benefits.
