Volunteers with Samaritan's Purse, a disaster relief organization, are coming to Tulsa from all over the country to help people clean up from the storm and to offer an encouraging word.
Scott Stevens and other volunteers from Samaritan's Purse are rebuilding lives by rebuilding homes affected by the storm.
Stevens and three others cleared branches and put a tarp down on a roof.
"We are just trying to leave the homeowner in good shape,” Stevens said.
Karissa Ryan came in from North Carolina to help with the cleanup.
"For a lot of homeowners it is not just the only thing happening in their life, typically it's just one more thing in a series of all of those life stressors that you're dealing with already and so it's a very vulnerable place for people to be in,” Ryan said.
It’s hard work, but Stevens thinks it's important to support others during difficult times.
"We all have storms in our lives whether it's divorce or accidents or those kinds of things. And yeah I have had storms in my life too and there’s always been somebody to help in that time of need, and that's why we are here to help in their time of need,” Stevens said.
The disaster relief team will stay for several weeks and help people in Green Country any way they can.
"They will be here till the job is done,” Stevens said.
