New "Eatertainment" Concept Coming To Bixby With Pickleball And Dining

The goal is to bring families together and make memories; that's Josh Juarez's vision with his new "eatertainment" concept, Courts and Commons.

Pickleball has become America's fastest-growing sport, and now it's growing in Bixby, Oklahoma.

"Whatever I create, I want it to be so special that people from downtown and midtown are like, 'we gotta go south," Josh Juarez said. 

Josh Juarez, the creator of the Josh's Sno Shack chain, is expanding his entrepreneurial skills with a pickleball and dining concept called Courts and Commons.

"The thing I love most about pickleball is that it's so communal in nature, in the sense that you can have an 8-year-old, an 80-year-old, a division one athlete, and me on the court at the same time, and we can all have a great time," he said.

Courts and Commons is the second phase of development in Bixby called the Village of Scereno. The "eatertainment" concept will have 8 indoor pickleball courts, 3 to 4 dining options, outdoor green space for yard games, and a court on the water, which will double as a stage.

"Since we're going first, we thought, why not just make that a pickleball court, and then when the development finishes, it can be multi-use for a big stage," Juarez said. 

Bixby Mayor Brian Guthrie is excited to have a new entertainment option for people who live in Bixby and everyone else.

"This is going to give something for our residents to do here in the city of Bixby without traveling outside of that. This is going to be a draw for the entire region. From the east, the north, the south, and the west," he said. 

Courts and Commons is expected to finish construction and open in the summer of 2024.
