Construction To Begin On New Collinsville Police Department

The Collinsville Police Department is getting ready to double the size of its station.

The department has grown over the past five years and says the current building just isn't big enough. Collinsville Police Chief Matthew Burke says the new space will be used to serve the officers and the community as a whole.

"We also plan on holding classes for our community that we can instruct on them on active shooter classes CPR classes things like that that we can actually teach to the community," said Burke.

The project was funded by the city's sales tax which voters approved in 2022. Construction begins in December.
