Tulsa Law Enforcement Works To Keep Shoppers Safe This Black Friday

Thousands of people are going to be out and about buying gifts for Christmas on Friday and law enforcement is working to ensure everyone stays safe.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, Tulsa Police Department, and the Woodland Hills Mall itself have joined together for Operation Safe Shop. If you're out at Woodland Hills Mall, you'll likely see TCSO observation towers throughout the parking lot. These allow TCSO to get an elevated view of the parking lot so they can keep an eye out for would-be car break-ins.

You'll also see officers patrolling both the parking lot and inside the mall as well. The Sheriff's Office said places with more security will likely be a safer shopping environment.

"We would advise people to go to places like this where there’s a heavy law enforcement presence because when law enforcement is around, you’re less likely to become a victim go to stores that have security, both in the parking lot and inside," said Casey Roebuck with TCSO.

Deputies also said that shoppers should be vigilant as well. Keep an eye on your gifts and your wallet or purse and to pay attention in the parking lots walking to and from your car.
