For many people, Black Friday is the official start of the Christmas season.
Lots of Oklahoma families are picking out their real Christmas trees to enjoy for the holiday
Nestled in this maze of Christmas magic, little trees, big trees, and just right trees find families to take them home and get all spruced up.
At the Owasso Christmas Tree and Berry Farm, families have the option to take a ride in the tractor to hand-select their perfect Christmas centerpiece. The firs are shipped from other states and other types are grown right here. “We grow Virginia Pine, Carolina Sapphire, Leyland Cypress is the 3 we can grow," said Bill Jacobs.
Whether you grab a saw and do it yourself or get a tree that's already been cut down, there are trees in every shape and size to make everybody happy. “We have to spin it around," said Cari Aberle about her process to find a tree. "It gets taller every year I feel like, but it holds all the ornaments we add.”
Cari and daughter Charis Aberle said coming to the farm is the official start of the Christmas season for their family. “Our whole family comes every year," Charis said. "Just growing up still as college kids coming back its been great memories.”
Once carefully picked, the trees get a shake, trim, and some netting, are tied on vehicles and sent on their way.
Owner Bill Jacobs said Black Friday is their busiest day of the year. “We started this morning at 9 o'clock, and they’ve been pouring in ever since," Jacobs said. "It's fantastic.”
Thousands of trees will be front and center in Oklahoma homes before the end of the season.
It’s something visitors said is a tradition they’ll continue to anticipate.“We love the Owasso tree farm," said Cari.
