Prue, a small town northwest of Tulsa, started a toy drive because they weren't getting the help they needed around the holidays.
Virginia Inman, the town clerk, and members of the volunteer fire department are collecting Christmas gifts for families.
"They can come in here to town hall, they can sign their kids up, let us know what items they need or want, and we will try our best to fulfill them,” Inman said.
They have already collected a couple of gifts but have more than thirty kids to help this year so far. That's actually a lot considering the population is less than 400.
"We don't bring in a lot because we are a small town and only have a Dollar General here so any help that we can get is thankful,” Inman said. “They can donate here at the tree and then we come in and we wrap. The ladies in the town come together and wrap gifts and we bag everything up and let the parents come and pick up their items for their children."
She started the drive three years ago and it's grown each year.
As it continues to expand, She hopes they can continue to help everyone who needs it.
"I have ten grandchildren of my own and a great-grandchild on the way so yes if I didn't know if my grandchildren or great-grandchildren were not going to have a good Christmas I would be hurt, you know feeling like I am failing, and I want to make sure that no parent ever feels that way,” Inman said.
Gift donations are due by Dec. 20th and will be passed out to parents on the 22nd.
