The Tulsa Air and Space Museum has big plans to help inspire more women to pursue careers in aviation.
The museum is fundraising to support its next exhibit, “Women in Aviation.” It's raised $13,000 to create the new additions.
The interactive exhibit will be spread out throughout the museum and have printed materials for visitors.
Tulsa Air and Space Museum leaders said they hope to spark the interest of young girls to work in high paying STEM careers.
The exhibit will feature women from the beginning of the age of flight, to the present day.
"All the way from Amelia Earhardt, Betsey Coleman. All the way up to modern 5th generation fighter pilots that are female, astronauts, and also the female engineers. And what I call the STEM brains behind all of these wonderful things in aviation," said Executive Director, Tonya Blansett.
The developmental stage of the exhibit starts in January and groundbreaking will be sometime next Summer.
