Getting in the Christmas spirit is important to Art Emporium 66 owner Amanda Stout.
“That was part of the efforts in the decorating of the Red Fork District, the Art Emporium 66,” she said.
Friday night's Art Crawl ended full of Christmas cheer, but the next morning was full of disappointment after Amanda received several Ring notifications.
“I looked at my phone only to notice there’s a Christmas tree gone,” she said.
Around midnight, the Ring video shows a group of teenagers ransacking the store's outdoor decorations.
“So this is them when they first walked by, just pulling balls off, as kids will be kids,” she said.
And then the video shows them stealing two of Art Emporium 66's Christmas trees.
“So, this is kind of the first couple of trees that they were vandalizing and messing with, well there used to be trees here,” said Stout.
Stout says she recognizes the kids who passed by. She said they were at the event.
“They walk this path every day to and from school,” she said.
Stout says this isn’t the first time they’ve messed with the store. She understands kids playing around at first, but now believes they’ve crossed the line.
“When you actually take the Christmas tree, you’ve now stepped into theft,” she said.
They worked hard to make this place special and hope these kids learn a Christmas lesson; that their actions impact people.
“It's a slap in the face of what we’re doing over here and trying to make it happy,” she said.
Although they don’t want the kids to get into any serious trouble, Stout says they are in the process of filing a police report to prevent more things like this from happening again.
She says they have plans to replace the trees.
