A Tulsa bakery wants to help you take your holiday baking to the next level.

All Things Cake offers classes throughout the year, but its busiest time is Christmas.

Ladies from the Tulsa Area Alumnae Panhellenic signed up for one of the Christmas Cookie Decorating classes as a way to bond outside of their regularly scheduled meetings and volunteer opportunities. "This is just one of our monthly get-togethers for ladies from all different sororities that live in Tulsa and surrounding areas," said Leslie Frazier.

The owner of All Things Cake, Jannette Stenstrom, opened the business 14 years ago. "I knew that I wanted to make cakes because we are a full bakery, I knew I wanted to sell supplies, but I knew I also had to teach classes because there is just not a lot around to learn how to do the art of decorating," she said.

Stenstrom learned how to decorate by taking a class just like this. "I remember the first class I ever took," she continued saying, "My teacher was Kathy, she still shops here, she is amazing. She made the class fun."

That is her goal, too. "If your cookie overflows, we just say you can dunk it in sprinkles, you can eat the evidence, I mean it is not a big deal. We try not to take things too seriously," Stenstrom added.

Susan Deshane said she likes the classes offered at All Things Cake. "You do not have to be very artistic you can just play around, have a good time with it. She shows you everything, she has got the cookies made, and she makes it very fun and easy," she said.

Stenstrom will tell you she also lacks artistic ability, but that it does not matter, because all levels are welcome in her store.

"We teach them from the get-go, so how to outline the cookie, how to flood and fill it in, and we give them some basic techniques on how to just do some really simple things to make their cookies go the extra mile and just look like they are professional," she said.

As Katherine Castleberry will tell you, the best part is what happens at the end of class. "You get to take the finished product home," she said.

Each class is two hours long and costs $45 per student. All tools and supplies are provided.

All Things Cake is located at 6808 S Memorial Dr. in Tulsa. To sign up for a class visit CLICK HERE.
