The Tulsa Oilers take the ice at the BOK Center on Sunday, December 17th for Family Fun Day.

The team is coming off of a two-game sweep on the road and sits at third in their division. Right defenseman, Duggie Lagrone, said the guys are ready. "It is going to be a great game, the first one at home in a while and one of the last two before the holidays," he said.

Following the matchup against the Wichita Thunder, fans can get on the ice and skate with their favorite Tulsa Oilers players.

"I love those, it is great," Lagrone said. "You get to see the fans on the ice, some are walking around, some of them are skating for the first time, so that is really cool to try to help them out, especially the young kids."

He said it takes him back to when he was in their skates. "I remember just being younger and going to hockey games in Dallas," Lagrone continued saying, "I would skate with the players after the game, get to interact with them, and do all the signings and stuff. As a six-year-old in Dallas, I just fell in love with hockey doing that."

A sport he is now helping to grow in Oklahoma by inspiring the next generation of players.

"It is kind of surreal to realize that you are the role model now," Lagrone said. "It is a privilege, to be honest with you, and I just hope I get to keep encouraging more kids to play hockey, it is a beautiful game."

Doors open Sunday at 3:05 p.m. and the puck drops at 4:05 p.m. The first 300 fans inside the BOK Center will get a hockey card pack, and the first 500 kids will get a mini hockey stick.

Lagrone said having the card giveaway on the same night as a post-game "Skate with the Players" is a bonus. He said, "Maybe you are a shy kid like I was, and it encourages you to go up and ask your favorite player to get his autograph on your card and now you have got something forever."

Tickets for the game start at $17 or $14 for groups of more than ten people. To purchase tickets CLICK HERE
