A new game has made its way to Green Country.

Pull up a chair and you'll be an athlete, not a spectator.

It’s called Chair Volleyball, and each team has six players.

The only requirements are you have to be 55 or older to play and you can't get out of the chair.

Carol Tiger and her team traveled from Okemah to play in the Christmas-themed tournament.

"It's been good because we do get a lot of exercise in, we stretch and it helps us to move a little bit better I think,” Tiger said.

J.R. Wind and the Muscogee Nation put the event together.

He loves seeing the elders come together for some friendly competition.

"It's always good to hear them talk Creek to each other, singing Creek songs among each other, laughing,” Wind said.

The game is first to fifteen points and Tiger loves to win.

"I talked to the team before we got here, these are the rules, we are going to hit it every time I don't care,” Tiger said.

But it's more about getting together with people she loves in a fun way.

"We practically know just about everyone from different communities and some of the elders say if they didn't have this to do, they would be sitting at home not doing anything,” Tiger said.

The next Chair Volleyball game will be held in January.
