The Tulsa Regional Chamber says 2023 was the best year for tourism in Tulsa and it hopes to keep that momentum going.
The chamber is planning to bring more attractions to Tulsa this year, which could bring a bigger economic impact for the city.
Some new attractions coming to Tulsa this year include the World Axe and Knife Throwing Championships, a new WeStreet Ice Center, and Zink Lake which will begin hosting events on Labor Day.
Tulsa Regional Tourism president Renee McKenney said big events benefit the economy because people come and spend money here.
“When you look at events like this that’s happening right, you bring in vendors, you bring in visitors, they bring in family whenever it’s a sporting event. So, we see that it impacts our restaurants, our retail, all of our world class attractions. So, that they buy tickets and experience those. Whether it’s going into the different districts and enjoying that. So we love to see people come in, spend their money and leave it here,” McKenney said.
McKenney said they plan to bring in a new convention center with a connected hotel to accommodate visitors.
