Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. parade in Tulsa will now be postponed due to the extremely low temperatures that are in the forecast.

The MLK Jr. Commemoration Society confirmed the news on Thursday after the Society President, Pastor Pleas Thompson, made that announcement during the Tulsa City Council meeting Wednesday night.

“We are advised by local authorities that the weather conditions are expected to be hazardous, particularly the low temperatures,” said Thompson. “As a result, we will reschedule the parade at a later date so we can honor Dr. King’s legacy and the hard work of our sponsors and parade participants.”

Additionally, the Walk of Peace that was scheduled for Sunday has been canceled altogether. All other MLK-related events will take place as planned.
