PBR's 'Unleash The Beast' Begins This Weekend At BOK Center

The top 40 best professional bull riders in the world are bucking into Tulsa this weekend.

PBR Unleash The Beast is January 19-20 at the BOK Center. Wyatt Rogers, a bull rider from Locust Grove, Oklahoma, is chasing his second World Finals appearance. He grew up in a rodeo family and started bull riding at a young age.

"There is nothing like it in the world and the adrenaline you get in 8 seconds, you could never imagine," said Rogers.

This is the 20th season of the Unleash The Beast tour. It is the ultimate showdown of man vs. beast and both are considered athletes in this sport.

Cord McCoy has retired from professional bull riding after qualifying for the PBR World Finals six times and competing with the USA World Cup team in Australia. He now works as a stock contractor.

"My job is to be the bull butler," McCoy continued saying, "I take care of them, make sure their health is good, take care of their nutrition, their management, where they travel, and what their schedule is like."

He has two bulls on the Unleash The Beast tour. Ridin' Solo is a two-time World Champion bucking bull and Tulsa Time, named after his daughter Tulsa, won the PBR in Tulsa last year.

McCoy describes them both as "big pets" who are trained to buck and know when it is time to turn it on.

"Once they get in the bucking chute, they know it is man vs. beast and their job is to get the guy on the ground," he added. "As soon as that is over, they just walk back to the pins and want to eat, hang out, and have you scratch their back, so they are just like people."
